  • @ Hagen - indeed! Anyway, despite the minor setbacks, I was positively surprised with the kit. The detail level is good, the colors are fine and the fit ends up being not problematic. As it often happens on propeller driven (or mixed power plant) planes with tricycle undercarriage, it is easy to fill the pictures. Nice one, GPM! die-kartonmodellbauer.de/index…dd71193ae5147fd044ea594cf die-kartonmodellbauer.de/index…dd71193ae5147fd044ea594cf die-kartonmodellbauer.de/index…dd71193ae5147fd044ea594c…

  • Thanks Hagen :-) I agree. The existence (or not) of a canopy accessory often makes the difference when choosing a kit. Do you see a problem in the first picture? Right, there is one and quite silly! Fortunately, the rear wire doesn’t cross anything inside the fuselage and new holes on the skin do the job. If the problem was on the front wire, it would be a mess… The other “problem” was expectable. A lot of ballast is needed. The compartment over the landing gear bay, between the piston engine an…

  • GPM has a canopy accessory for this model and it fits quite well. The thick frames all around make the assembly easier. I had to cut the headrest top section. Otherwise, it wouldn’t fit inside. die-kartonmodellbauer.de/index…dd71193ae5147fd044ea594cf die-kartonmodellbauer.de/index…dd71193ae5147fd044ea594cf die-kartonmodellbauer.de/index…dd71193ae5147fd044ea594cf die-kartonmodellbauer.de/index…dd71193ae5147fd044ea594cf die-kartonmodellbauer.de/index…dd71193ae5147fd044ea594cf die-kartonmodellbauer…

  • Thanks, hj and Kriszme :-) @ Kriszme - If I ever assemble a BV141, there will be a problem with symmetry The nose gear is yet another fine assembly. I used a single “real” wire to give strength. You can see it going up from the top. It will fix solidly on a landing gear bay top wall. die-kartonmodellbauer.de/index…dd71193ae5147fd044ea594cf die-kartonmodellbauer.de/index…dd71193ae5147fd044ea594cf die-kartonmodellbauer.de/index…dd71193ae5147fd044ea594cf die-kartonmodellbauer.de/index…dd71193ae5147…

  • Thanks for the comments, friends :-) I have many pictures today, all related to the wings. The right landing gear door was all blue. It should have a white rectangle as part of the US markings. The interesting thing is that the rectangle was drawn in the part! This made it even easier to cover it with thin white paper. die-kartonmodellbauer.de/index…dd71193ae5147fd044ea594cf die-kartonmodellbauer.de/index…dd71193ae5147fd044ea594cf die-kartonmodellbauer.de/index…dd71193ae5147fd044ea594cf die-kart…

  • The wing structure is separated for the inner and outer wing sections. So, the different dihedral is not firmly set on any part. The second picture shows the jet engine air intakes. die-kartonmodellbauer.de/index…dd71193ae5147fd044ea594cf die-kartonmodellbauer.de/index…dd71193ae5147fd044ea594cf die-kartonmodellbauer.de/index…dd71193ae5147fd044ea594cf die-kartonmodellbauer.de/index…dd71193ae5147fd044ea594cf die-kartonmodellbauer.de/index…dd71193ae5147fd044ea594cf

  • Thanks, hj :-) Today’s pictures have varied content: landing gear doors, main wheel wells, ailerons, wing pylons… die-kartonmodellbauer.de/index…dd71193ae5147fd044ea594cf die-kartonmodellbauer.de/index…dd71193ae5147fd044ea594cf die-kartonmodellbauer.de/index…dd71193ae5147fd044ea594cf die-kartonmodellbauer.de/index…dd71193ae5147fd044ea594cf die-kartonmodellbauer.de/index…dd71193ae5147fd044ea594cf die-kartonmodellbauer.de/index…dd71193ae5147fd044ea594cf

  • Congratulations! This is a lovely, lovely, lovely model. Even without your added detail, it does look as one of the most appealing kits from Schreiber for a very long time. I have to get a copy Do you plan to take some pictures with the lights on?

  • Thanks Gerd! Nice to hear from you :-) The wheels are quite different from other models. The main gear tires have an almost square section. The front wheel has a hollow center, which makes my rolled paper method a bit trickier. As in other assemblies, there is an “easy” version for both the wheels and the landing gear. die-kartonmodellbauer.de/index…dd71193ae5147fd044ea594cf die-kartonmodellbauer.de/index…dd71193ae5147fd044ea594cf die-kartonmodellbauer.de/index…dd71193ae5147fd044ea594cf die-kart…

  • Mating the tail surfaces to the rear fuselage was easier than I expected. There are some complex surfaces but the fit is good. Because of the sharply tapering rear fuselage cross section, the rear wire of the horizontal tail is almost tangent to the fuselage. There is a single hole in the skin for that wire, instead of two holes for the forward wire. die-kartonmodellbauer.de/index…dd71193ae5147fd044ea594cf die-kartonmodellbauer.de/index…dd71193ae5147fd044ea594cf die-kartonmodellbauer.de/index…dd…

  • Thanks Daniel! I started later and finished earlier, with no cost overruns

  • The horizontal and vertical tail surfaces are modeled in much the same way as Halinski does. The usual rolled paper bits were used to help shape the curved leading edges. die-kartonmodellbauer.de/index…dd71193ae5147fd044ea594cf die-kartonmodellbauer.de/index…dd71193ae5147fd044ea594cf die-kartonmodellbauer.de/index…dd71193ae5147fd044ea594cf die-kartonmodellbauer.de/index…dd71193ae5147fd044ea594cf die-kartonmodellbauer.de/index…dd71193ae5147fd044ea594cf die-kartonmodellbauer.de/index…dd71193ae5147…

  • The pictures show the rear fuselage construction. You can see that the engine exhaust diameter is a fraction of the fuselage section behind the wings. I added gluing tabs and some reinforcements to properly fix the tail hook. die-kartonmodellbauer.de/index…dd71193ae5147fd044ea594cf die-kartonmodellbauer.de/index…dd71193ae5147fd044ea594cf die-kartonmodellbauer.de/index…dd71193ae5147fd044ea594cf die-kartonmodellbauer.de/index…dd71193ae5147fd044ea594cf die-kartonmodellbauer.de/index…dd71193ae5147fd…

  • Thanks, Hagen :-) The bombs lack gluing tabs, which I added. The same goes for the paper rolls to shape the nose. die-kartonmodellbauer.de/index…dd71193ae5147fd044ea594cf die-kartonmodellbauer.de/index…dd71193ae5147fd044ea594cf die-kartonmodellbauer.de/index…dd71193ae5147fd044ea594cf

  • I see that you are working at full steam, John! It is so easy to look at the pictures and forget that it is all at scale!

  • The roof problems you mention are somewhat odd in a recent Schreiber but not completely surprising. I had some problems on the Kreuzenstein castle roofs, too. Anyway, you solved the problems

  • Thank you very much, Christof and John :-) @ John - you know I'm trying to behave but the "bigger eyes than stomach" syndrome didn't completely go away Yes, for the not so distant future, I'm planning to show the Lodz and Wroclaw cathedrals and a train model, apart from the inevitable airplanes. There is no lack of fine subjects to choose from...
